With the rise in popularity of sUAV (small unmanned aerial vehicles) also known as “drones,” the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has called national attention to drone safety by designating the week of November 4-10, 2019 as National Drone Safety Awareness Week. This week is intended to educate the public about drones, their applications and the safety precautions surrounding them.
Florida Drone Supply’s Participation
As a local and online provider of drone equipment and accessories, Florida Drone Supply always places an emphasis on safety and is excited to participate in the FAA’s inaugural Drone Safety Awareness Week. Our participation will include a weeklong open house, held at our retail location in Fort Myers, and a digital campaign to engage our nationwide audience.
Our open house will include drone demonstrations, raffles, simulated flights and refreshments. We encourage all local UAV pilots, drone enthusiasts and other interested parties to join us for what is sure to be a fun and educational event.
Because Florida Drone Supply is a nationwide retailer, providing equipment and training all over the United States, we will be engaging our online audience as well. Following the FAA’s areas of focus (public safety, business, recreational flyers, etc.), we will be sharing information, news articles, tips and more via our social media channels and e-mail campaigns. To follow along, join our mailing list and follow us on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and/or LinkedIn.
Why Drone Safety Matters
As more drones take to the skies for public safety missions, commercial uses and recreational fun, ensuring that all pilots operate safely and responsibly becomes that much harder. Because sUAV technology continues to advance so quickly, rules and regulations are continuously having to evolve. While the FAA has established a framework for pilot operations, it is up to the drone community to address public concerns, keep pilots afoot of new regulations and encourage ongoing education.
